Artist Biography

Elita is the project of Emma Harvey, a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actress born and raised in St. John's, Newfoundland. Built alongside her partner Timothy Rypien, the band blends angelic vocals with sinister, bone-chilling lyrics, layering shoegaze, noise, garage rock, and dark pop into a sound that is intimate and unsettling in equal measure. Her themes orbit anxiety, depression, agoraphobia, intrusive thinking, paranoia, and the supernatural, delivered with a vocal quality that feels almost too delicate for the darkness underneath it. She debuted with the single I Hate Everyone but You in 2018 and followed it with the Sick Girl EP in 2019, an honest, raw exploration of different mental states that put her on the map. Her debut album Dysania came next, with cover art shot by legendary fashion photographer Nick Knight. Her most recent release Hell Hill (2025) has been widely praised as her most fully realized work yet, a 45-minute deep dive that finds beauty in abstraction and pushes her experimental sound into new territory while staying rooted in everything that makes Elita distinctly her own.
